FAQ: Privacy Policy Update

We’ve applied the Qualia Privacy Policy to RamQuest sites, including:

Why did you make this change?

This change was made for several reasons:

  • The relevant sites (and related services) are owned and operated by Qualia.
    • Some of the sites relied on a privacy policy for Old Republic, which no longer operates the sites or the underlying services.
  • The privacy policies being replaced did not include certain important information, such as:
    • Disclosures required by comprehensive state consumer privacy laws
    • Accurate operator and address information

What is not changing?

  • The obligations, as set forth in your customer contracts, for us to be good stewards of the data you input and process in services like Ramquest One, CCE, or E-Closing (whether directly or via OP2) - protecting it and using it for limited purposes.
  • The promise not to sell your data - like Ramquest, Qualia does not sell data.

About the Qualia Privacy Policy?

This change was made for several reasons:

  • The Qualia Privacy Policy reflects our efforts to be transparent. As a result it is very comprehensive and may look different than what you are used to seeing in this sector.
  • It is drafted to educate several audiences, including:
    • Qualia customers (e.g. parties that pay Qualia to use a title production system): Section 1 reminds customers (or their clients, such as buyers and sellers) that Qualia processes data “at the direction of customers and subject to agreements with those customers.” Section 1 is reinforced by wording in the introduction, which states that the policy does not apply to data controlled by others, including information that Qualia processes on behalf of customers.
    • Users: Users are individuals that have an account for a Qualia service (e.g. Qualia Core, Connect, CCE, E-Closing). As discussed in the policy, Qualia collects and processes information from users, such as basic account info and data describing the actions users take while logged in. Qualia uses that data for a few purposes, but mostly to create/administer accounts, keep accounts and the services secure, and to provide support if an issue arises.
    • Visitors: Visitors are individuals that visit publicly available sites and pages (and are not logged in). As discussed in the policy, Qualia may collect information associated with cookies or other technologies. Qualia may also collect basic personal information, such as name and email address, if visitors request a whitepaper or sign up for a webinar. Qualia uses that data for a few purposes, including to provide the content requested, but also to market to individuals that seem to be interested in Qualia’s services.
