Database Administrator - Resware

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

As Qualia embarks on its next phase of growth, we are seeking Microsoft SQL Server database administrators to provide support and retained services for customers utilizing our Resware product. This is a crucial role to fuel our continued success and provide value to the customers of this robust and customizable product. Database Administrators will collaborate with our support and services teams to ensure we're providing the best advice and best services to our customers as they scale their businesses with our complex and, often large, database instances. The ideal candidate for this role can readily set up, maintain, troubleshoot and tune locally installed instances of MS SQL Server, but also assist when it is installed in public cloud offerings (primarily AWS and Azure). You'll work on a team to administer but also troubleshoot the database layer of our Resware product, which is used by leading companies in the title insurance industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Remote DBA

  • Backup setup, monitoring, restore testing, index and statistics optimization
  • Help set-up Availability Groups, TDE, Query Store, MDW etc, in connection with the customer's IT staff
  • Help with the DB configuration of third party products (such as Informer)
  • SQL server patching, in conjunction with customer's IT staff
  • SSRS or SSIS install if requested
  • Replication setup
  • Alert response (5x8, 7x24 etc)
  • SQL Server performance monitoring and troubleshooting

• Database deployment and migration services

  • Best practices guidance for installations on-premises and in public clouds (AWS and Azure)
  • Migration planning and execution
  • DR/BC design and test assistance

YOUR BACKGROUND THAT LIKELY MAKES YOU A MATCH

• You have at least a bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering or a related technical field, or the work experience to show you don't need one
• 3+ years experience as a database administrator for Microsoft SQL Server, in an enterprise IT environment or as a consultant to medium to large enterprises
• Experience with correctly configuring MS SQL Server, ensuring that installation and maintenance best practices are implemented and followed
• Experience with troubleshooting MS SQL Server performance issues, including blocking, resource contention and starvation, and deadlocks
• Experience with configuring, monitoring and testing backup and recovery technologies to meet RPO and RTO, while ensuring that performance is not compromised
• You know how to communicate: In person, you're personable and articulate. In written communication, you're clear and helpful. In meetings, you contribute ideas
• Experience supporting complex enterprise software in production is a big plus
• Experience with the real estate/title and settlement services domain is a plus
